 2-12-21 THOUGHTS

The problem of spiritual immaturity is shown in the following passages.  GROWTH in the Christian is expected.  It is God’s design for His people.  Read Ephesians 4:11-16 again, which is growth of the Body/Church of Christ.  Individual growth feeds our collective maturing.  What I bring to the table is a better ME.  The more I absorb, the more I can help you absorb.  A teacher is one who helps in the assimilation of information.  A student is one who absorbs.  We are all givers and takers in this process!

Heb 5:8-6:1a    Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. 9  And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, 10   being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. 11  Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12  For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13  For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14  But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. 6:1   Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity,

The following passage area shows that fleshly thinking is a detriment to spiritual learning.
1Cor 3:1-3    And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. 2  I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 3  for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?

God’s design is shown:
Eph 2:21  in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22  in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
Eph 4:15  but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,
1Pet 2:2   like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
2Pet 3:18    but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

My Prayer:
Help us to grow as we should, Oh Lord. Teach us to long for your word and mind, Oh God. May we share your word with each other and with others.  Encourage us to mature, and practice to have our senses trained to discern good and evil. Keep our ears from being dull of hearing.
In Jesus name           Amen
